hairspray... watched it at The Grand Cathay. Woo... the seats are nice, and the theatre looks real up and glam. haha.
The movie is musical-style cos it originated from a musical. Alot of singing and great dancing... the music and everything makes u feel like dancing along with them! and the whole movie is so happy and fun-filled. of cos, every movie has a theme... the meaning behind this movie is to iron out all the discrimination and differences perceived by people... There is one particular song with some lines of the lyrics that go sth like:
The blacker the grapes, the sweeter the juice. The darker the chocolate, the richer the taste. Spread the word!
So why do they only see the colour on their faces? Why do we sometimes only see the surface of things and people? In the movie it had a gd ending, and in Singapore we don't really have this kind of discrimination. Plus the fact that everyone's more open to differences, or rather diversity... But I guess its undeniable that in certain parts of the world... some people still suffer in silence this way?
I think its really sad, that their own people don't accept them. Being isolated. Singled out for insults. Or just plain ignore you, your existence... Hmm... I guess when they say nothing is fair in this world, it really does mean sth...
