well, last day of the year.. Was reading Stomp's starblog and this week's entry is about the most memorable moments of 2007. What better way to end the year by reminicising some of the best/worst moments rite? (now who said memorable has to be good?)

So here we go, my 10 Most Memorable Events in 2007: (In no particular order, but of cos some will be more significant than the others.. hee.)

#1 GSS France/London
The last time I made my way out of Singapore further than Malaysia was in Sec 1 or Sec 2 when I went to Bangkok during CNY. Which was way back. Haha.. So this trip is actually very significant to me, my first ever to Europe, without my family and going with friends.. Of cos, during this trip there are many 'memorable moments', but rather than letting them take up my whole list.. Let's save it for other memories.. haha.

Ok, the ones most clearest in my mind are.. Our lessons and lunches in sch, Paris trip. Perhaps London will be most remembered, for the journey there was hard and long. But no matter wad.. I will always rem the English man who had helped me when I was the most helpless. Standing at the top of the bridge with my 20kg luggage and a flight of stairs ahead of me. I was damn afraid I would roll down the stairs. Just when I made the first few steps.. This hand from behind just took my luggage and a man made his way down in the blink of an eye. He walked away right after putting my luggage down at the bottom of the stairs, never even turning his head back. And I had to shout my thanks to him very loudly.. This act of kindness warmed my heart thoroughly after the rough journey. For that, thank you.. whoever you are (:

#2: Cousin's Wedding at Rasa Sentosa
The first wedding ever for a long time. Not many 'unmarried' cousins left other than me and my bro. Haha.. Always loved weddings for the happiness and joy that surround everyone present. Most of all.. its a chance to see all my relatives (maternal side, that is) besides the CNY. And dressed so differently! Of cos.. its my first time at a 5 star hotel.. =P

#3: Breakfast at Yacht Club
This was before me and Eugene started our r/s, but even before we did it was alrdy memorable. Haha.. nono, its not becos we are tog then now it is memorable. Its just that besides Soonhui, Sompong, Heow Hui, Thong Ler etc he is the only guy outside our NH clique that I can maintain a good platonic friendship with. And its quite amazing that most of our friendship before this has been sustained only from MSN, the phonecalls in sec sch ONLY and yet he can understand me easily like them. Yep, so the first 'gathering' (a bit weird to call it this since its usually used for a grp of pp isn't it, haha) was breakfast at Yacht Club. Needless to say, everything was good.. the weather, the food and everything and it paved the way..

#4: 19 April
Paved the way for the start of our r/s. I still rem clearly that day I was at JP meeting my uni frens to go sch tog and we were having one of our usual sms chats. So when he popped the qn I was like on the escalator and the first pp that knew were my uni friends cos they saw my wide smile and everything.. haha. I'm sure we'll have many more memorable moments to come in the coming year other than this.. Many memories are alrdy etched in me in the short 8-9 months so far. Thks for everyting dear dear..

#5: Primary school gathering at Pizza Hut/JP
this is memorable although there was another gathering earlier in the year becos I managed to meet Weili and Vicky properly for the first time since we grad.. Had a gd time catching up and chatting.. I'm very glad I still keep in touch with some of my pri sch mates cos I know some pp alrdy like lost contact with theirs long ago. So I really treasure whatever we have now.

#6: Dragonboat Freak Accident in Cambodia
Other than the fact that Wei Cheng had been a fellow saint, this incident had a huge impact on many Singaporeans becos 5 talented and passionate dragonboat rowers were lost so suddenly. It made me, and alot Singaporeans, learnt a lesson the hard way. Live your life to the fullest; live it your own way and treasure what and who you love most. Even till now I still visit the blogs dedicated to the 5 warriors occasionally to read thru the msgs. One day, I will no longer tear when reading them and will smile at the beautiful memories they left behind for the people who knew them.

Its really touching to see their friends drop by the blog frequently, to drop msgs to wish them Merry Xmas, update abt their own lives etc as if to chat and accompany them. Let's learn our lesson from now on shall we..

#7: Release of Results
Ok la, I know some people cannot understand why it is memorable (or maybe find that I am showing off) becos you all have been getting straight As all along until you numb to the feeling alrdy.. haha. But average students like me, who have been getting only a string of Bs ever since I gone uni.. This is very significant to me. Of cos, it'll serve as a motivation for me to work hard to maintain the results for the coming semesters (well, not much.. 3 more!). Yay shuhui.. you can do it!

#8: Wearing contact lenses
Indeed.. the initial hassle of wearing contact lens, the 'freedom' of no glasses.. From a love-hate relationship, I have alrdy grown to adjust and come to rely on it.. haha. Shall continue to take care of my eyes and contact lens in the coming 2008!

#9: Harry Potter's final book!
Yeah.. getting the final book. Sth that made me anticipated, and yet when I read it I cant bear for it to end and wanted to ask for more. I'm sure this is the same for many Potter fans like me out there! haha. This book is really good, although there were sad parts like the battle in Hogwarts which took the lives of many people.. I guess the good ending make up for it. Now.. is to look forward to the movie then.. (:

#10: Fireworks@ Vivo, 30th Nov
Now I rem the date even cos it was the last day of exam. And it being so memorable cos I didn't even plan to watch it, didn't even noe the first place.. haha. Last day of exams and went to Vivo for movie and lunch with Joyce, Lionel and Amy.. And was supposed to follow with meeting Eugene for dinner. Only when we were there then did we know, that Vivo City was celebrating its first year anniversary with a small concert and fireworks display the very same day at 9pm.

Sometimes, the most memorable event need not be purposefully planned. I guess this is life, cliche as it is, but really.. life is full of surprises and we do not noe know what will happen in the next second, minute, hour, even year.. This was what I felt when watching the fireworks right in front of me and Eug that nite. Fireworks - beautiful and short.

2007 will be gone in a few hours time.. hope that whatever 2007 had brought you guys this year, 2008 will be even better for all of u. You never know, you might find yourself a new girlfriend/boyfriend.. New friends of course.. but let's hope they'll be those good ones worth maintaining a friendship with. For the guys.. hope your new life, the next phase, which is uni will be a smooth transition for you.

Happy New Year everyone!

still not back yet. hai.

Friday, December 28, 2007

like always, I let myself worry about results of exams only the first few days after the last paper.. =P and so, last nite, though I had wanted to chk the results this morning.. I had found myself kp trying to login into Studentlink. To no avail.. Somehow cant get in, error and stuff. Well, the usual thing during this period.. The sch's site will go cranky.

so er.. not being like arrogant or fake or wad la.. but I really did a double take and double-checked my results when I saw it. Whoopee.. first thought was to send eug a sms after I settled down. Yeah.. Eugene's still in Msia *sniff sniff* of cos I miss him! But I'm glad he's got this holiday cum family visit cos I noe he's been longing to get out of S'pore.. haha. Well, he'll be back this Sun or coming Mon! (:

since Eug's not around and all the gathering and shopping trips has died down.. I decided to spend some quiet time catching up on my reading. Which is why, for the past few days since he's gone, I've made trips to e library after work to pick up some books. And I got some new bks I have been wanting to read. So.. I'll be devouring them the next few days.. hahaha. Youdian kept shaking his head whenever he see me read my book during free time.. =P asked me to go for real action and watch National Treasure and not the action in the books.. ha.

was telling eugene about this duck rice stall which me and my family discovered lately. Surprisingly its been right under our noses at the coffee shop opposite the Boon Lay Market, the newer food court at boon lay shopping center ya. Wa.. the duck rice is really good lo, one of the best I've had so far.

This is the picture I've managed to take b4 I almost finished half the rice. haha.. I told Eugene I'll take a pic for him to see cos I've been telling him abt how gd it is. But the moment the rice came I tucked in and almost forgotten I was supposed to take a pic! lucky all the ingredients are still there yet... =P The rice is very fragrant, I think its not yam rice.. but well, they did sth to it. Full of flavour. This is a set, with salted vegetables ( I don't usually eat them outside, but this is very appetizing when u eat with the rice) tau kua and half an egg. Yummy yummy! Not to mention the sambal chilli.. Everything for just $3.. haha. good deal eh? pls go try next time u all happen to pass by..

today work officially ends at 3pm, its a 'half-day' though it seemed more like a 3/4 one. but actually 12-2pm is our lunch la. The buffet is a bit disappointing in terms of proportion though. haha. just nice for everyone. And its after some colleagues chipped in and brought in food from their homes lo. Our VP was quite nice, bringing beautiful fruit tarts made by his wife. There was another guy whom was very friendly and we nv seen b4. A bit short but he was all smiles to everyone and chatted freely. Later Eric realised he seemed familiar.. and recognised his face from the company's notebook.. Our CEO. heh. Our top mgmt are all very friendly guys lo.. haha, interesting. No airs and very approachable. And our VP later even asked for our names again cos he said he forgotten to take it from us last time. He also asked for our surnames.. so weird. haha..

anyway.. here's a very very valuable photo of us 3. The guy on e left is Youdian, and the right is my classmate from NTU - Eric. Cameras are banned in the premises as u see.. so this was taken from an authorised camera and sent to us by our sup. So ma fan hor.. =P

After wk.. met Eugene. Our last date b4 he leaves for Msia on Wed. Supposed to have our fave xiao long bao, but Crystal Jade was damn full and the counter crew had such bad service. Suan le.. even then we still had to wait for abt 40 mins for our table at Pizza Hut. Oh well.. at least we had a decent dinner (: Watched I am Legend. Quite unexpected ending.. but the movie was not bad. Shall not post any spoilers, so those who like suspense/thriller movie can go give it a try!

after coordinating for so long, we finally went to Cafe Cartel at PS for a dinner tog with the GSS peeps. haha, quite happy at the turnout.. 8! had a lot of fun catching up and chatting, laughing.. just like the days in France :D

had actually updated one entry de, but somehow got error, was too lazy to retype. =P

I was saying.. my Body Shop eye cream seemed to have worked. I wonder if it is really due to the cream. Or is it cos, due to wk, I've been slping b4 12am every nite. I would like to think its the cream, haha!

anyway.. this wk continues to be filled with gatherings and dinners. Ha. Next wk onwards will be more peaceful I think.. Not so much gatherings liao. hehe, easier on my pocket too =P

received my first xmas present today. well, I guess its sort of. Janey gave me a notebook today. ha. well.. still deciding whether shld buy some of 'em presents.. oh well.. PR comes with a price

had a super busy but eventful week.

Mon: Movie with Eug (Golden Compass!)
Wed: Dinner w Pris + Minshan (Swenson's)
Thurs: Dinner w Eugene
Fri: Pri sch gathering at JP/Pizza Hut
Sat: HRC meeting in town, shopping with Joyce (Thai Express)

Well.. from this u can see I ate out EVERYDAY except for tues. And can deduce that my pocket's got a big gaping hole. But I'm very happy that I got to see so many 'long-lost' friends all tog in this week. Pris who disappeared la.. And my pri sch frens, Weili - haven seen her in years!

That's why I'm sort of craving for some quiet time by myself at home, with a homecooked dinner. And repeatedly turned down Joyce's invitation to Settlers' Cafe with her.. ha. I owe you one la gal, I am actually a homey person too.. I'll miss home de.. haha.

So from all these meals, I am feeling fat again.. Those yummy but sinful meals.. The fats are added to all the wrong places.. Argh. And I am too lazy.. Or when I am feeling upbeat abt a new exercise regime.. sth pops up. Like my internship.. no swimming on weekdays.. Boo.

1. http://www.waiterrant.net/
This is the blog of a waiter in USA. He relates what he sees in the restaurant to some of his thoughts about those issues. Quite meaningful reads.. And his blog receive a lot of hits daily. (: something which we don't usually come across..

2. http://www.weikiat.net/slops
This website recommends shopping blogs (called slops), so if you're interested in online shopping, or just wanna update urself on some fashion trends.. can go visit the slops recommended..

enjoy!

so far, my internship has been turning out great! ytd the office was very much livelier due to the TGIF mood. Me & Eric also started being chummy with the other guy who's a temp and my age. Poly grad awaiting enlistment into NS, and he's been outwardly showing his detestment abt it. LOL.

anyway, Eug & me went to our usual hangout - Vivo. With a purpose this time though, to check out the products in body shop. Cos my classmate is able to get a whopping staff discount of 50%! I'm gg to shop till I drop (which also means shop till my account balance takes a big fat drop) & buy some skincare products. Yippee..

Gonna hit the PS outlet later. Hope everything I want is in stock then! (:

either cos its already my 4th day at work, or its cos I'm lucky today that there wasn't much work for me to do. so its not as busy.. My asst. manager (the person I'm reporting to) seems to be always too busy to give me some work to do. Lucky me that I'm sitting beside a young & friendly lady who is closest to us in terms of age. Both the guys already noted that there is a significant age gap in the rest of the peeps there as compared to us, and attributed the lack of conversation topics to this reason as well. lolx.

anyway, Janey was very kind to lend me some of her magazines to read cos my id doesn't have Internet access and my a.mgr STILL hasn't give me any work. She had gotten those HRM magazines from a Jobcentral Fair, and also some Careers Central magazine. The latter is seemingly familiar cos I think our sch gives out some free copies at the General Office. I never thought much of them till today. And no, its not cos I was bored to tears and too glad to have some entertainment. Those mags are very informative. HRM mags are abt some HR trends which are very relevant to what I'm studying and its a bit regretted that I didn't get to read them b4 the exams.

The Careers Central mags are very useful to us undergrads. They have alot of advice on issues regarding job seeking, interview skills, etc etc. And I saw this article on cover letter & resume writing which I went to photocopy. A gd reminder when the time comes for me to worry over them. But what caught my eye was an advertisement abt the STB Management Trainee Scheme. Its like a DREAM COME TRUE. haha. Its a 12-mths program for fresh grads. And they open it to grads with any type of degree but at least a 2nd upper class honours. Right now this seems a bit daunting.. but the article really gave me some hope la.. The program seems very enriching. And some even get to travel during the 12-mths period. Sth worth working towards to!

Oh ya, I also copied down some interesting webbies recommended by the mag. I'll check them out and recommend them to u guys if they gd (:

Friday's coming, woo!

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

had been very busy since this mon cos its the start of my holiday intern. well.. I cant bring in my camera phone, so these few days brought some inconveniences (& not to mention the occasional boredom) cos there's no phone with me. the security part is a bit of a hassle, but totally understandable.

And its actually a gd experience la. Learn alot excel stuff since the start till now. And I happen to be doing the internship with one of my classmates from my comms class! Eric.. quite glad got him ard for company. But the pp in the office, so far quite nice to wk with (:

These few nites I've been slping very early, max 11.. cos I gotta wake up early in the morning. Walk to wk! haha.. oh well. I dunno wad to blog le.. Tired. Wet & cold days like this makes me wanna drink coffee..

Saturday, December 01, 2007

my last paper was finally over ytd. woohoo!

Went down to vivo with lionel & joyce to meet amy. We were so starved after the paper, lol. The train journey seemed so long & we kept thinking abt wad to eat. anyway, we settled for Marche. Long time since i went there. It was at the suntec one, so you can gauge how friggin' long it is (since its alrdy closed down. ha). We watched Beowulf. Hmm.. it was ok.. all animated, and I was a bit surprised cos i tot only Angelina Jolie was animated.

After that, caught dinner with Eugene at the Delifrance in Harbourfront. Guess what we had there? haha... Pizza! Well, we actually wanted to go there for the steaks, which we had there last time and it was pretty good. Comes in a set & the price was reasonable. Apparently its an offer, so its not on the menu anymore.. Thus, pizza as we both weren't really hungry. Hmm.. its not bad. We had the Tropicana pizza, which was sth like Hawaiian pizza, but its turkey ham instead. And its verrryy... cheesy! Yummy..

Oh, not to mention the fireworks display! I guess life has a lot of surprises here n there.. we went there wanting to spend a gd time after our last paper, and it happens that its their 1st anniversary. So they'll be having this 6-min fireworks display at nite. Eug & me caught it in quite a gd view, right in front of it, out on the deck. There were so many people there.. even the peeps in the restaurant came out to watch after hearing the bangs from the display.

short but pretty! gd end to a day like this.

I wish I can say I'll be happily slacking my 5 weeks away, but its not my zhuo feng. haha. I cannot stay idle so long, I will get bored to death.. Joyce & I had tried our shot at getting an internship this 5 wks and we each got one. Mine is at ST Kinetics which is like a stone's throw away from my hse. haha.. I'll definitely be walking home aft work!

So, this weekend will be spent slacking. Packing my messy room. And I dunno.. get a book? watch some drama online? :P
