First day at work
Today went on quite smoothly (: for the morning did the usual sorting and filing of some documents. Then afternoon Grace showed me more things that I might be doing for the coming 2 wks and e rest of my time there. When sch starts I'll be going back there on my off day in sch to help them with some of the work. Cos although the co. is quite big, the HR dept only has 2 pp - the manager and an executive (Grace). And Grace also has to support the MD (Managing Director) with secretarial roles. Which explains why she's so busy.
Anyway, the people there are real friendly and doesn't seem to draw that much boundaries between the 'employees' and 'managers'. Grace had introduced me to almost all the employees working indoors (nt in the plant) from the normal perm. staff to the big shot directors. Haha. Even the MD! wa... but i like the culture there. There's a very gd mix of people from Germany, Japan, China, India, New Zealand and of cos S'pore.
So I have to do normal admin duties plus sometimes act as a secretary if Grace is not around. This is the part I gotta get adjusted to cos I've nv been a secretary b4 and I might even have to face big shots from the head office cos I'm working in the MD office. Its ok, means more challenges and I get to learn more things. Plus, in time to come it'll be useful cos I'll be learning HR stuff too anyway!
But... they're real flexible abt my wking hrs. Just now Grace asked me what time would I like to start and end work, which give me quite a shock. haha, she says she's fine abt me arriving at a time I'm comfortable with. I hope not much big shots coming for the next 2 wks! :P
